I was rearended in my 89 truck , if the ins. co of the other driver has an estimate done on my truck can i request the repair amount instead of getting the repairs done

Hi Kurt,

Since your truck is a 1989 it's value is very low. I would venture to say that the value is less than $1500.00. In that case the cost of the repairs will likely be more than the value of the truck. If that is the case, the insurance company will pay you the value of the truck and they will take it and sell it for scrap.

If it turns out that the truck is repairable you can have the insurance company issue the check directly to you.
