Auto Insurance Claims: rear-ended NOT at fault- totaled car., total loss auto

Question
I was rear ended at a red light. The at fault driver takes full responsibility. The problem I am having... I drive a 98 Toyota with a little over 200k miles. It was in great driving condition. It has never needed major work, great exterior and interior. I had the Farmers adjuster (at faults insurance)finally come and look at my car (accident happened last Tuesday, the 20th)he stated that my engine was in above average condition, paint great w/minor chips, great interior, etc. but that the damage was close to 3,000 (all rear end damage) and they would be totaling it out. I just cant grasp how they would total out a car that will run great for time to come and not fix it. While they still need to offer me what they will pay out, KBB has my car listed as low as 1k - 2k.I basically will be stuck with a car pymt now because it will require me to purchase a vehicle. What can I do to ensure I get what is deserved.I have checked out online sites (i.e Auto Trader) and there is no car close to mine for under 2700.I rather have my car fixed I simply cant afford a car pymt or take the risk of purchasing a used car that I know nothing about that can brake down a month from now. I am our sole provider.
On a side note-- my 13 yr old daughter and I suffered pretty bad whip lash and have been seeing a chiropractor. In reading some of the advice on here, should I take her to a medical doctor so that she can be referred to a Physical Therapist. I dont want her to continue w/pain for years to come due to this injury, as well as myself. I don't have extra money to spend on medical bills w/upfront costs.
Please enlighten me on my options w/my car and personal injury. I just don't see how our system allows someone to injure us (physically and property damage) and I end up suffering w/debt for a new car when my car ran great! and pain and suffering for my daughter and I.

I appreciate your time.

Answer
Regarding the claim for the value of your car, get the eBook at UClaim.com entitled Total Loss Auto for Claimants. Its on sale with a money back guarantee. As to the injury claim, get an "accident attorney". There are plenty of them in the yellow pages. They will advance the costs and know doctors who will "advance the costs" and not bill unless you get a settlement.
