Auto Insurance Claims: Am I liable?, front end alignment, exchange numbers

Question
I hit a truck next to me while backing out slowly. The police came and we all agreed there was no damage. The officer made us exchange numbers anyhow. 2 days later the guy is saying that there is a scratch which there may be. But 3 days later he called saying his front end is shaking when he goes over 45 mph. I don't think that I could have caused damage like that cuz I only bumped him. I have a feeling that this guy is trying to use this to get a free car fix for what may have been a preexisting problem. What should I do?

Answer
Hi Casie,

You should call this guy and tell him that there is no way that the little scratch that you caused could have caused damage to his front end. If his car is shaking at 45 mph, he either needs to have his tires balanced or he needs a front end alignment, neither of which could have been caused bu the minor bump.

Also tell him that if he contacts you again that you will turn the whole thing over to your insurance company to investigate him for fraud.

I hope this helps
