Auto Insurance Claims: Stolen vehicle, drunk driver crash, own insurance, other vehicles

Question
Who has to pay if you are hit by a habitual drunk driver in a stolen car? He is my sister, injuring her boyfriend, and herself severly, and her grandson, and another passenger mildly. Also he pushed them into the path of oncoming vehicle resulting in that driver being moderately injured. Does the car owners insurance pay? Or my sisters insurance pay?

Answer
Hi Shirley,

The insurance for the car that was stolen will not pay for any damage that the theif caused. Any other vehicles involved in the accident would have to go to their own insurance for the damage. Each injured person should contact the state attorney's office to see about restitution.

I hope this helps
