Auto Insurance Claims: claims handled in GA, independent claims adjuster, tractor trailer rig

Question
I have been unsuccessful in getting a claim handled. This is a commercial policy.  The policy is a CA policy but the accident happened in GA. We were told that Praetorian Ins does not handle claims in GA.

Answer
Hello K,
A policy written in any state contains the legal wording that when the insured vehicle is traveling, the policy automatically changes
to conform to the insurance laws of each of the 50 states, the
District of Columbia and anywhere in Canada.

Although Praetonian Insurance may not be licensed to do business in
Georgia, they are obligated to hire an independent claims adjuster
to handle a claim in any location where their policy is valid.

Since you stated it is a commercial policy, I assume that it involved
a tractor-trailer rig.  Contact the independent owner or the trucking
company for information regarding their agent and/or the telephone
number and location of the claims office and then proceed to file
a claim.  They will hire a local independent adjuster in Georgia
to deal with you regarding settlement.

If you carry collision on your vehicle, you could also choose to
have your own company repair your vehicle, less the amount of
your deductible.  They will then subrogate against Praetonian
for the return of their expenditures plus the return of your deductible.

I hope that you find this information helpful.  Your feedback by
rating my response will be appreciated.

Sincerely,
Bennie
