Auto Insurance Claims: auto insurance - liability, insurance liability, liability coverage

Question
I was driving my friend's car, with his permission. He has
a comprehensive coverage for his vehicle and I have a
liability coverage. I accidentally hit the rear bumper of a
car in parking lot after the car skidded on ice. Whose
insurance should pay the damages to the car I hit?

Answer
Hi Kit,
If your friend has liability insurance on the car, then that policy pays, otherwise your own policy follows you while driving your friends car.
Exclusions in either policy could change this situation.  It's best to report the accident to both companies and let them make the decision as to whom pays.
