Auto Insurance Claims: Auto Insurance Company not calling me back, auto insurance company, smow

Question
Hello,
I reported an auto collision claim (I hit a curb due to icy road conditions resulting in $1760 in damages due to needing a new control arm and frame pulling). I have comprehensive coverage.
Called my insurance company yesterday and they gave me a claim number. They said my claim rep will call me within 24 hrs. It's been longer than 24 hrs now; I left my claim rep. two messages and he is not going to call me back (it seems like).
What timelines do insurance companies have to follow? Do they have to respond in a timely manner? What are my rights when it comes to needing a quick response from them?
My truck is not safe to drive.
I found a shop who will fix it but I need to get this insurance settled before I drop the truck off at the shop...

Answer
Hi Lyuba,

In most states and insurance company cn take up to 30 days to investigate and either pay or deny a claim.

If you live in an area where there has been severe weather such as smow and ice, it is possible that your insurance company is overwhelmed with claims like yours. Many people slip in snow and ice and have damage. You jyst need to keep calling your insurance company. I'm sure he will get back to you with in a few days.

I hope this helps
