Auto Insurance Claims: Insurance not paying claim, primary target, insurance companys

Question
I was hit from the rear over a month ago on vacation.  I was stopped and heard tires screaching behind me and heard a thump and then I was hit from behind.  luckily I did not hit the person in front of me.  when the police came and did reports. He wrote citations to both of the partys behind me that claiming that the vehicle in the rear hit the guy behind me and then he hit me. neither of their insurance companys wants to claim responsibility for the accident and since I am not liable at all in this accident I dont want to claim this with my insurance and pay my deductible.  Every time I talk to their insurance companys they just tell me it is still under investigation(a month later)!!!  I just want my car fixed.  Are there any more action I can take on this or am I just going to have to wait it out.

Answer
Hi Bill,

Unfortunately, waiting it out is your best and fastest option at this point. Your primary target should be the 2nd car behind you. It sounds like he is the car that started the chain reaction and will be ultimately responsible for all of the damage.

Since you were in no way at fault, you could put the claim through your own insurance company. They will pay for your damage less your deductible. They will then pursue the other insurance companies to get back their money as well as your deductible. At least this way your car gets repaired and you can let them deal with the waiting game.

I hope this helps
