Auto Insurance Claims: Enterprise Rent-A-Car, enterprise rent a car, own insurance

Question
My car was hit while parked in a parking lot by an Enterprise rent-a-car. We got the license plate and called the cops and now I am dealing with another company Enterprise pays to deal with this kind of stuff. I hadn't heard from the guy for awhile and I called yesterday to see the status and he said Enterprise is not going to cover the damages. He said the guy who rented the car left the car on the side of the road and it had to towed. Even though they have all the information of the guy including a credit card number the guy said he couldn't contact him. So now he says that no one will be paying for my damages which is really just the front bumper. What I don't understand is why Enterprise doesn't pay for the damages now and then find the guy. I have no way of doing anything and it was their car that hit me because I can't get the guy who hit me insurance information. Shouldn't enterprise have that information? I feel like the guy who I have been talking to knows that I don't really know what I am talking about and is taking advantage of it.

Answer
Hi Ruth,

Unfortunately, the only way to get the information out of enterprise is to hire an attorney to file suit. Then he can subpoena the records to get the information. Otherwise you can put the claim through your own insurance company and let them try to get the information.

I hope this helps
