Auto Insurance Claims: stolen automobile/insurance, Car Stolen, Car Stolen Payments

Question
Any idea if after a car is stolen that the loan company should stop reporting till the insurance company pays.  It took the insurance company a little over 60 days.  This was reflected on credit report.  Or was it the owners responsibility till the insurance company paid?

Answer
Hello Alicia,

Unfortunately, it falls on your shoulders to make sure payments are made on the loan while the insurance company pays. 60 days is a long time.

Call all credit Bureaus and dispute this. Put it on writing and argue that it was a confusing situation. Insurance was supposed to pay buy you did not. Usually, if you put it on writing and are proactive, you can clear it up from your record.

Contact Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion.

Good Luck
Anne.
