Auto Insurance Claims: damage to a loaner vehicle, loaner rental car damage

Question
I have a loaner car from a dealership where my vehicle is being repaired.  The front tire of the car blew up because we ran over a debris on the road.  Took the loaner car to the dealers thinking they would just replace the tire.  They want me to file a claim under my own insurance.  Are the damages (tire, ding on rim and paint scratch on side panel)to the loaner car covered under property damage (since it is not my car) or comprehensive?

Do I also have a say on how come they are charging me too much? IE: They are charging $250 for 1 tire when the same brand new tire only cost $136. So who knows how much they will charge for the ding on the rim and the paint scratch.

Thanks so much for your time.

Answer
Allen, you have a contractual liability claim.  Unless your policy excludes contractual liability (which is possible, but unlikely), then it will pay for the damage to the loaner.  Your insurance company will pay only for what you are legally liable for, which is not the unreasonable cost of a tire.  The exception would be if the loaner contract you signed dictates what you must pay for tires (again unlikely).  If you turn the claim over to your insurance then you have no say in the cost, you will simply have to trust your company to handle the matter properly.

Sorry for the delay!  I hope this helps.
