Auto Insurance Claims: Adding 16 Year old to the policy., risk driver, insurance premium

Question
My 16 Year old daughter just got her license. We just bought a new car and had the old car set aside for her. All three cars are on the policy. Can I just have my daughter added to the old car. So that the insurance premium doesn't go up very much.

Answer
Hi VG,

Most insurance companies will require that the highest risk driver in the household be rated on the highest risk vehicle in the household to develope the highest possible premium. There are of course exceptions. Every insurance company has their own underwriting guidlines. You will have to contact your agent or company to see how they would handle things.

I hope this helps
