Auto Insurance Claims: damage to trailer contents without an accident, own insurance, motorcycles

while towing 2 motorcycles, one fell over and damaged the other.  the damaged bike belonged to the driver and the other one did not. where is this covered?

Hi Kathie,

The driver is the one responsible for his own damage. As the driver of the vehicle he is responsible for making sure that both motorcycles are secured. Since the damage to the motorcycle was his own responsibility then he can only make a claim on his own insurance if he has coverage or pay for the damage out of pocket. The owner of the bike that fell causing the damage has no responsibility here at all.
