Auto Insurance Claims: Insurance Claim/matching Paint, minor scratches, swirl marks

Question
Recently I was rear-ended and handled the claim directly through the other driver insurance company. When the repairs were completed the rear end was freshly painted , but the rest of the car (front end and roof) had the same old paint.  Am i entitled a car with matching paint? Should"not the insurance company cover that expense.

Answer
Hi Manny,

The insurance company is only required to paint the items that are repaired or replaced, not the entire vehicle. The color should match the old paint. However, the new and old areas may look different due to minor scratches and swirl marks on the old paint area. The body shop can match paint color but they can not match age, use and weathering.

Now, if the color does not match then that is the responsibility of the body shop. If the color does not match you will need to go back to the body shop that did the work to see if thay can correct the color difference.

I hope this helps
