Auto Insurance Claims: Rental Reimbursement Question, claims adjustor, comprehensive insurance coverage

Question
I have comprehensive insurance coverage with rental reimbursement. Recently, a hail storm damaged my car, resulting in a total loss. My car is already paid off, so I sent my insurance company my signed title and a check with my routing number so they could deposit the full amount minus the deductible - exactly as they requested. Well, I cannot buy a new car until they send me the money via electronic fund transfer, but that process of sending me the money is taking longer than the week they will allow me to rent a car. Now the week is already over and I will have to start paying out of pocket for the rental car. This is costing me more than driving my own car, for sure. Aren't they obligated to make sure this doesn't happen, regardless of the insurance company? And aren't they obligated to get me back to where I was in the first place? Paying for a rental car isn't back to where I was in the first place.

Answer
Hi Stephen,
I have to assume that you have discussed the value of your car and arrived at an agreement for a final settlement.
Yes, you are still entitled to rental reimbursement.  You are usually provided a rental for up to 48-72 hours following your receipt of their check.
You need to immediately contact your claims adjustor and discuss this matter and have him contact the rental company and extend the authorized rental period.
If you don't get immediate satisfaction from your insurance company, then you should file a complaint with the state department of insurance.
Simply type 'yourstatename department of insurance' into your web browser and hit go.
This will bring up several sites dealing with insurance in your state.  Click on the one that states "Official State Site' and scroll through it.  You will find the method of filing an e-mail complaint and the telephone number to call in order to file in person (which will give you faster results).
I hope this has been of help, please write again if I can be of additional assistance.
Your feedback of my answer will be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Bennie
