Auto Insurance Claims: Premium after no fault accident, collision center, rear bumper

Question
Hi, I was recently rear ended on a free way on the passing line as I was slowing down as the car ahead of me was slowing down. Then the car that was following me failed to stop and hit my rear bumper. The bumper was crumpled and needed to be replaced. I believe the other driver is at fault, but the police didn't come to the scene. The accident has then been reported by me to the collision center. Would my premium increase if I try to claim this to my insurance company? Thank you very much for you time.

Answer
Hi Benny,

Assuming you obtained the insurance information of the person who hit you, you could file the claim directly with that insurance company.  You could also file with your insurance company but you would have to pay your deductible and they will then pursue the other company for reimbursement. You should not have any increased premium as long as the at-fault person is identified and your insurance comapny can be reimbursed.

I hope this helps
