Auto Insurance Claims: Parking lot collision, car bumber, rectangular shape

Question
Hi Richard,

He is co-worker. We both were backing up in the parking lot without seeing each other and both the cars collided.  My car came out clean without any scratch. Since my car bumber is in rectangular shape, his car got a bump, near the left car tire.  When we went to the cops the next day, he said he was backing up, but stopped for a min and then I came and hit him. He wants to make a claim.  I informed my insurance company - what really has happened.  They are waiting for the police report and the claim from that guy.  Will my insurance company be paying that guy? Is there anything else I need to do regarding this?  What are my odds of winning?
Thanks a lot!
Paddy

Answer
From what you are describing, the end of your car hit the side of his car.  This usually means that he was most if not all the way out of the space before your car struck his.

Your odds of winning are slim and your insurance company will likely pay the majority of his claim.
