Auto Insurance Claims: Personal Injury Claim, hairline fracture, personal injury claim

Question
I was involved in a head on collision last week. The other driver admitted his fault. I have a sprained shoulder and hairline fracture to my sternum. The adjuster wants to meet with me next week. Is that too soon? What documents should I have to get maximum amount owed to me?

Answer
Hi Christine,

You should make no settlement agreements and do not sign any release forms at this time. The settlement of a bodily injury claim does not occur until you have completed all treatment and have been released from your doctors care. Depending on the extent of your injuries and the length of treatment your claim could be worth between 4 to 10 times the total cost of all of your medical bills.  You will need to put together al of your bills and write a formal demand for payment letter for the amount of settlement you are demanding. Then there will be some back and forth negotiating before you reach an agreement.

I hope this helps
