Answer
Hi Miguel,

If your car is declared to be a total loss, the insurance company will have to pay you the fair market value of the car. You should look at www.autotrader.com as as any other source where you can find cars like yours for sale.  Compare mileage and overall condition. Print out the infor you find and average it to develope an average value. Then when the insurance company makes you an offer you will know if it is a fair offer. If it is not then you have the information to submit to them to negotiate the value.  If they will not negotiate with you, you may have to hire an independent vehicle appraiser to provide an appraisal of the value of your car to provide to the insurance company.

I hope this helps
