Auto Insurance Claims: stolen motorcycle, claims advice, claim help

Question
my husbands motorcycle was stolen and they are asking for alot of personal information which he has complied, can an insurance company use unrelated phone / text  messaging be used to define a persons character

Answer
 Hello Angie,

Under the terms of your insurance policy, you are required to provide all information that is deemed to be relevant to the claim. In a perfect world, insurance companies require this information as part of a claims investigation which is fair an impartial.

No, they cannot use the information to "define a persons character".  They can use it, however, if the information is relevant, and if the information gathered supports that the insured misrepresented the facts of the claim.

You can learn more about insurance investigations by reading some of the free articles on my website.  You can begin here with an article that discusses what is reasonable and what is not.
