Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: heater on Dodge Ram, dodge ram truck, diagnostic function

Question
what is the name of the assembly that is in the heater of a Dodge Ram truck that controls the two sides  of the truck. My heater takes a long time to heat up and only get the passenger side vents to blow hot air. The driver side is cold. What is the name of the valve or assembly that possibly controls that?

Answer
Hello Anthony

We are a uk company with no specialised knowledge of your vehicle
Some vehicles here have blend motors, these open and close the flaps to comply with what you have asked for
Most vehicles with climate control will have something that blends the operation of the heater flaps, or doors I believe Chrysler call them.
On refrigeration only system , typically those type of heaters with a red and blue control but no temperature readings may have cable or vacuum controlled flap operation.

You don't say how old your Ram is, later ones with climate control should have a self diagnostic function that is accessed by pressing the climate controls in a particular sequence.
With earlier more basic systems you should be able to see the operation by peering in through the footwell hole where the air comes out with a torch and see the flaps moving.

Hope some of this helps and I am sorry we cannot be of more help on this occasion
