Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: a/c controls, chevy silverado, 2004 chevy silverado

Question
I have a 2004 chevy silverado with manual dual zone climate controls, can I swith the control unit to an automatic dual zone control unit

Answer
Ed,
I want to say yes, as long as the plugs match up on the rear of the two units. If they do not match up, when you get the new unit, let me know and I will be more than happy to assist you in re-connecting and splicing the wires to the appropriate locations. Or if you prefer, and have a bit of electrical system knowledge, I can send you the wiring diagrams and you can work it. Either way let me know when the time comes.
But as for functionality, yes, it will work the same. Both systems have the same inside temp sensor connections, fan controls, temp controls, and they all get routed through your PCM in the same manner, so by looking through the diagrams I do not see any HEY STOP signs that pop out anywhere.
I hope I was able to provide the assistance you needed. If so please remember to rate this answer. If I can do anything further now or in the future, do not hesitate to ask. Thank you for the question and good luck in everything.
