I have a 97 s-10  Blazer w/ 4.3 v-6.The ac compressor will not cycle when the ac is turned on. I have checked for power going to the plug that engages the clutch and there is none when the ac is on. There is continuity between the plug and the ac relay and the system has plenty of refrigerant.  I was suggested that the compressor cycle switch may be bad. What do you think?  Also if this is the problem, where is that switch located?
Answer -
The PRESSURE CYCLING SWITCH is a 2 wire plug located on the accumulator (receiver/dryer. With the engine ON, A/C set for A/C disconnect this plug and jumper the harness wire together and see if the compressor engages.

If it does, You have one of 2 problems:

1. Low on freon.

2. Faulty pressure cycling switch which is very common. Just unscrew the switch as there is a check valve to keep the freon from escaping.

I have already tried this and the compressor does not engage. What do you think should be my next course of action?

Answer
Let's backup a little. Have you worked on the A/C system at all ?. have you added any freon to the system lately and how much ?. HAS THERE BEEN any MECHANICAL WORK OF ANYKIND PERFORMED IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT PRIOR TO THIS PROBLEM ?.

What color wires do you have going to the A/C relay ?.

What color wires do you have going to the LOW PRESSURE switch.

What color wires do you have going to the HIGH PRESSURE switch ?.

Check the back side of the compressor for any loose wires if there is any.

Is their anyway you can get me pictures of the relay and all the switches in the system and e-mail them to me at:
