Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: 2003 Dodge Durango AC, dodge durango, compressor cycles

Question
I have a 2003 Dodge Durango 4x4 SXT with the 4.7L V8 engine.  My A/C will intermittently blow hot air and then return to cold air.  The compressor cycles on and off, however when it cycles off the air coming through the vents immediately turns warm and humid (if I am running the air while driving in the rain, when the compressor cycles off the windows start to immediately fog up, so I know the air is not cold and dry as it should be).  The instances of the A/C problem are more frequent when it is extremely hot and humid, or raining outside.  Another thing I have noticed is that the air runs fine while driving at a constant speed (i.e. 55mph) but as soon as I slow down the compressor shuts off and the air immediately blows hot again.  If I get back up to a constant speed the compressor kicks back on and the A/C runs cold again.  At speeds of around 40mph, the compressor seems to have a harder time engaging than when I am running at 35mph or 55mph.  Additionally, I have noticed that when the AC is blowing warm if I accelerate strongly the compressor tends to kick back on and the air blows cold.  There are also instances where the air will work fine, and then if I stop for a short time and turn off the vehicle, the air will not work when I start back up and start driving.  In general, these instances of the A/C blowing warm can vary from a minute or two to several minutes (10 minutes+) before the compressor comes back on and the system blows cold.  Is this simply a case of low refrigerant?  Any insight you can provide would be great.  Thanks!

Answer
It could be a low freon problem. Only a set of ac gages will tell.

It could also be a problem with one of the pressure switches and or a problem with the in car temperature sensor or with the DAMPER DOOR controller whereas the damper door is not fully closing thus allowing hot air in from the heater core.
