Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: Chevy S-10 Air Conditioning, side fender, atmospheric air

Question
Vehicle: 1985 Chevy S-10

I am rebuilding my S-10 due to front end damage and a bent frame. I have all the parts and already have started the teardown process. I am going to rebuild/restore it on a new frame.

Problem/question: The air conditioning hose runs through the framework of the passenger side fender. I know the system is under pressure and am unsure of the steps required to remove the hoses. Is there some way to capture the refrigerant so it doesn't escape into the atmosphere. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
There is a piece of equipment called a RECAPTURE CONTAINER that all a/c repair facilities use to store the freon when they have to evacuate the system.

NOTE: NEVER EVER leave an a/c system OPEN to atmospheric air as this will cause moisture to accumulate in the system and will cause damage to various components.
