Question -
I have a  1999 Buick Regal that the barrings have been going out for a while. It is now screeching pretty good and I know it needs replaced. I have had 2 estimates (over the phone)of $210-$220 to replace it.
My question is: Can it be replaced fairly easy with a manual? If so where do I get the instructions and what is the average price of the parts?
Thank you so much for you time!

The blower motor costs approx $110.00. Ease of replacing it depends upon where it is located.

Take a look either under the hood near the passengers side at the firewall or under the passengers side dash area behind the glove box.

Once you find it, let me know where it is.

Answer
You can replace this blower motor yourself or anyone with a small amount of automotive repair knowledge can do it in 15 minutes.

Go to any auto parts store and tell them you need a BLOWER MOTOR WITH THE FAN (the fan looks like a plastic squirrel cage and is attached to the blower motor). Tell them you need it for a:

YEAR: 1999
MAKE: Buick
MODEL: Regal

They may ask you if you have AUTOMATIC SYSTEM for the A/C-Heater controls such as would be with a DIGITAL display with lights or a MANUAL CONTROL SYSTEM which would have manual levers and no lights or digital display that you push with your fingers like the old cars had. But they may NOT need this information.

The BEST thing is to take the vehicle in and show them the blower motor.

Once you have the blower motor ASK for a tube of SILICONE SEALANT as you will need to apply a small bead around the outer surface of the blower motor housing where the screws go. Put a continous bead around the whole outside area.

1. Make sure the ignition is OFF and the keys are in your
  pocket.

2. Unplug the wires to the blower motor being careful as
NOT to let the wires touch any METAL surfaces when you
  disconnect them..

3. Remove the small black rubber fresh air hose from the
motor and at the plastic cover. Just pull it off.

4. Remove about 5 or 6 small screws and lift out the blower
motor and you will also see the fan (squirrel cage).

5. One of the screws may have a black GROUND WIRE under it,
Make sure you put it back under the screw when you
  install the new blower motor.

6. Install the silicone around the outer edge of the blower
  motor as said above.

7. Re-install all of the screws and do NOT forget the
  ground wire as said above.

8. Plug in the electrical wires.

9. Attach the small black rubber fresh air hose.

10. Start the car and see if it works.

Let me know if you have any problems.
