Auto body repair & detailing: new roof for 2007 Tahoe?, autobody shop, windshield frame

Question
My Tahoe had a branch fall on it during high winds a week ago.  Smashed the front windshield and put a big dent in the top of the roof, between the sunroof and the windshield frame.  The insurance's body shop wants to put on a new factory roof.  Is this completely safe? (I have 3 kids in the car) Is there likely to be issues with noise, leaking or wind, and will it significantly diminish the value of the vehicle?

Thank you!

Answer
Hi Cynthia!....Yes, it is completely safe to install a factory roof, as long as the technician follows the manufacturer's recommendations as to how to install it to the factory specifications....This is VERY important....Otherwise, safety is compromised...PLEASE make sure, that where ever you take your vehicle to get repaired, that a qualified Journeyman Technician does this...As for noise, leaking, or diminish the value of the vehicle, if done properly, you should have no problem at all...Also, any reputable Autobody shop will offer a lifetime guarantee....As we do at the shop I work at....We offer a written lifetime guarantee...As long as you own the vehicle....So please check into this before signing any papers/documents as well.....Otherwise, the shop will not be held liable...Hope this is of some help....Please let me know, if you have any more concerns....Take care.....Dave
