Question
QUESTION: the fiberglass outer shell on both doors is seperatin on the handle sides an this goes from the top of the door to the half way point where they crimped it for stability.epoxy didnt hold so this time iam going to try fiberglass resin to join the to togather. any comments or help would be helpful

ANSWER: HEY TOM

IS THIS CAR A SNIPER WITH A FGLASS BODY KIT?

IF WHAT YOU HAVE IS A METAL DOOR FRAME WITH AN FGLASS OVERLAY THAN RESIN WILL NOT HOLD. YOU HAVE TO FIND A URETHANE COMPOSITE THAT WILL BIND EQUALLY TO BOTH THE METAL AND THE FGLASS.

SOME PRODUCTS ALONG THIS LINE CAN BE FOUND WITH 'SEM' or 'DURAMIX'.
HOPE THIS HELPS

QUESTION: thank you for your speedy reply, i appreciate it. the two areas to be bonded are fiberglass to fiberglass, not metal to fiberglass. this being the case, the fiberglass resin should work, would you agree?

Answer
HEY TOM

FGLASS RESIN, FOR THE PURPOSES OF OUR DISCUSSION,WILL NOT BOND TWO   PIECES OF FGLASS TOGETHER WITH ANY LASTING STRENGTH. YOU MUST USE MATTING.MATTING BRIDGES THE GAP BETWEEN THE TWO SEPARATED PIECES AND THAT, WITH THE RESIN, GIVES YOU THE STRENGTH YOU WANT ,PLUS WITH FGLASS YOU ALSO GET A MEASURE OF FLEXIBILITY.
HOPE THAT HELPS.
