Auto body repair & detailing: Auto roof repair, monte carlo ss, 2006 monte carlo ss

Question
I'm interested in buying a salvaged/rebuildable 2006 Monte Carlo SS. The car was in a rollover accident, so the roof is badly damaged. It's bent, and crushed. Is it a good idea to buy such a car. And if so how would to go about repair the roof. And what would to do about the sunroof.

Answer
A salvage title means it has to be inspected by the state before it can be put back on the road. The best way to repair the roof is to buy a used roof section including the pillars with a sun roof included also. You splice the roof in the pillar area the splice must be staggered meaning not just in a straight line. This is a difficult repair not for the novice. If the price is right and you intend on keeping it then it is worth it . But if you plan on reselling it may be hard to turn a profit with a salvage title.
