Auto body repair & detailing: 3 stage painting, nissan altima, bottom feeder

Question
Brian:

I have a damaged hood and bumper on a 2001 Nissan Altima - white pearl paint.  I understand the paint has a base, a midcoat and a clear coat.  Can you give me some specifics about proportions of mixing the hardner, activater and reducer for these three coats.

Also how much should I overlap the spray pattern and how much air pressure should be delivered to the gun.

Thanks for any help you can give me,
Bob Martin

Answer
Every brand of paint has a different way to mix their own paint. So when you decide what type of paint to use directions for the mix rate will be on the can. Usually the overlap is 50 percent. An hvlp gun uses about 15lbs of pressure a bottom feeder will us about 35 to 40 lbs of pressure.

   Hope this helps
