Auto body repair & detailing: Paint finish, honda civic ex, leasing company

Question
I have a 2002 Honda Civic EX. I noticed a lot a sticky tar all over the passenger side of the car. I tried to remove it using bug & tar remover but that was only limited help. I finally used rubbing compound and that worked. However now there are patches in the finish where it looks like the clear-coat came off. This is a leased vehicle and I want to make sure this is corrected before I turn it back in next year. What do you suggest?

Answer
IT is almost impossible for you to break through the clear into the basecoat. I suggest that you take it to a detailing shop and have the car buffed and polished before you turn it back to the leasing company. It will cost around a hundred bucks to get your problem fixed.
Paint problems are normal wear and tare on a lease vehicle.    Hope this helps
