Auto body repair & detailing: redoing an 84 Camaro, almost wish Id never started, isnt worth, spray gun

Question
Hi, I'm repainting my 1984 Camaro and am having a lot of difficulty with the body work.  I bought some single-stage etching primer for my spray gun, but the stuff is so thin that no matter how I try to adjust my spray gun, the crap keeps running like crazy.  I know that there is no way I'll be able to use the stuff to fill in any kind of imperfections, and there are LOTS of those to be filled in over the wheels and bottoms of the doors.  The car had some rust that was sandblasted away, and now the metal is pitted.

What would you recommend for a good, thick, reliable primer?  I don't intend on going with urethane primer until I can afford to weld in new metal, because the existing panels are only going to rust back through the primer again in another 3 or 4 years, anyway.  Urethane primer isn't so cheap.  But what would you suggest?

Answer
Sorry for the bad news but two part urethane primer is the only way to go.  You can buy cheap primer, But thats all you get. Runny non filling crap.  Save and buy the good stuff, the other isnt worth your time and will shrink and pull imperfections quicker.

         Hope this helps
