Auto body repair & detailing: Removing a welded bracket, cutoff wheel, saftey glasses

Question
I'm attempting a "restoration" of A 1966 Ford Mustang. I am fixing the rust on the trunk floor. I've removed the gas tank and I've taken out as much rust as possible. I am reinforcing the floor by welding 4 custom fitted steel repair panels that surround the gas tank.I have to remove 2 inner trunk brackets that are welded to the trunk floor so that I can place the R/L panels. These R/L panels go underneath these brackets. What is the best way to take off these welded brackets? I don't care if I mess them up because I'm probably going to place 2 new inner trunk brackets. These brackets reinforce the tail light panel where the rear bumper attaches to and they are also welded to the trunk floor. Any help will be greatly appreciated!(I'm a beginner at this). Thanking you in advance
Tom

Answer
The best way for a beginner to take of those rear panel brackets is with a small grinder with a 4 inch cutoff wheel.Remember to wear your saftey glasses when doing this. Leave the small ears of the bracket on the back panel so you know exacly the spot the new ones go. Good luck on your resoration. You've got a good one to restore!
