Mr. Torres: You know how much a fender well for a 2003 fender well costs?  What does the fender well protect?  Is it best to replace the fender well immediately if it is seriously torn?

Dear John, to the first question, I am sorry I ignore it.
On the second, the fender well is designed to keep gravel, mud and road debris form entering the engine compartment. In a Subaru with a box (hammer head) engine is not as relevant as in transversal engines in which those pieces are very important to protect oil seals, belts and other equipment safe from the same agents.Any way they are there to help in, at least keeping under-the-hood parts clean.Finally in the event of a torn fender well, I think you could make use some small cable ties to help join loose pices until you can get a new one.
