Auto Parts: Engine Dog Bone, shock absorber, citation x

Question
Hello, i have a 1985 Chevrolet Citation X-11 with the 2.8 V-6 Fuel Injected engine. im having trouble finding engine parts, particularly the Dog Bone. on mine the rubber is worn out and i can feel the engine movement through the car when it is put into gear. if you could point me in the right direction to either getting replacement rubber for it of preferably a shock absorber type that would be great. ive checked in alot of places but maybe you could find something.

thanks alot, Joe

Answer
It is an Anchor part number 2396, and was used on many GM cars up until the mid '90's.  So, you shouldn't be having any trouble finding it unless your parts guy is a complete loser.  You might want to find a good independent parts store, the kind that caters mainly to the wholesale trade, and give them your business instead of the knuckle-head at Pep Boys.  Sure, they'll charge you more for the same part, they've got to pay their people more and they don't have a shop subsidizing their parts business.  But getting the right part the first time can save a lot of money and aggravation, and someday there  will be something that nobody else can get for you, and you want to be their friend then.
