Auto Parts: cadillac, knucklebusters, cadillac deville

Question
QUESTION: I have a Cadillac deville dts. I am it will not go below 1/4 gallon. when it gets close it will read full. I was wondering does anyone know what could be the problem with my fuel gauge and what the cost could be

ANSWER: Hi Paul,

The sending unit in your fuel tank is going bad.

The part itself will be available only from the dealership new, and used from almost any recycling facility (like Knucklebusters) if you go that route. The sender will be quite expensive from the dealership and will run quite a bit to have it installed also, so you'll want to consider the cost and time without the vehicle if your decision is to go ahead with the repair.

Thanks for the question, I hope this information was helpful to you.

QUESTION: to search for that unit what i search for on your website

Answer
Hi Paul,

Currently I do not show the availability of this unit in my warehouse. I can locate this part for you if you'd like to go that route. We have several different location service options on our website.

The part is called a 'fuel sender' but you'd probably have to search it by 'misc. fuel injection parts' or 'fuel pump' as it will be listed as part of the fuel pump assembly and it is not an interchangeable part. What I mean is that there is no listings for interchangeability for a sending unit. that's not to say they are not interchangeable from car-to-car, just that the manufacturer has not released notes on which vehicles the part will fit to and from. But since it is more-or-less a part of the fuel pump assembly, we can interchange it that way and get it right about 95% of the time.

Thanks for the question, I hope this information was helpful to you.
