Auto Parts: 92 Honda Ignition Modules, honda ascot, auto electrician

Question
Hello. I have been having problems with my '92 Honda Ascot Innova (CB3-7007404 chassis, F20A engine, similar to Accord) It died in the driveway after I changed out the spark plugs, starter would turn but would not fire. Did all the standard tests and removed and cleaned the distributor cap to no avail. Called in auto electrician who diagnosed it as faulty ignition coil and module. Have scavenged from a wreck a replacement distributor and removed the coil and module from it to place in my own (as the car I removed it from had steering assist and had holes for wiring my car does not have). However the Ignition module I have got is made by a different manufacturer to my original and has different dimensions. I believe I can fit it in and connect it but will it work? My original is a Hitachi model while this one is NEC MC-8132 (also marked with 3B143). I am concerned it may have different operation specs, voltage etc. and do not wish to do further damage. So in all: will this Ignition module work in my car even though it is slightly different to the original?

Answer
Hi Ryan,

That is the mystery of the control module. My first guess would be NO. If the part numbers do not match, chances are the programming is different as well which could make your car run bad, not allow it to run at all or blow the rest of the modules out that are in the vehicle due to wiring differences.

Would I try it? I doubt it.

Thanks for the question, I hope this information was helpful to you.
