Auto Parts: cold transmission problem, synthetic fluid, transmission problem

Question
Hi Steve, I have a 1998 Malibu v6 3.1 engine. When it is cold, the transmission will not shift until the car is warmed up. I had the fluid and filter changed but I still have the problem. As soon as the car warms up, everything is fine. If I need to warm the transmission up before moving the car, what is the best way to do this (in park or in drive)? What about synthetic fluid. The temperature outside is about minus 10 Celsius.
Thanks

Answer
with it being that cold you need to run synthetic fluid. it will still flow at that temp. the best way to warm it up it to let it sit in park. you might try a fluid warmer. they make magnetic ones that you can put on the trans pan that would fix your problem.
