Car Alarms: 1998 Nissan Quest Factory antitheft alarm syst, nissan quest, red flags

Question
How do I shut off my anti-theft system?  I drive down the road.  And the work Van turns off and shuts down. Remote seems to not work at all.
Do I get another remote?  Or take this thing off my van all together?
Do I go to the dealership to remove it? or an independant alarm installer?

Answer
ok, a couple of RED FLAGS here.

1. No after market alarm would shut you down WHILE driving.
Unsafe, and they don't make that device. This is something
related more to a failure in the BCM/ECM controllers.

2. Same applies to an OEM security system. If you are diving
along, and something shuts off the engine WHILE
you are driving, you need to locate
a mechanic immediately, prefferably one from Nissan, to run
a code reader to see what failed.

It's NOT the OEM alarm.

3. If there is a siren involved here, that would
be after market. If none exists, it's OEM.
Either way, take this to a service department
for evaluation.

From the explanation, there is an issue deeper
then security here.

Good luck.
