Car Alarms: Dodge 2006 Mega Cab alarm, diesel motor, dodge mega cab

I have a 2006 Dodge Mega Cab with the 5.9 diesel motor. I went to get in the rig earlier today and the keyless remote would not work. I figured no problem, I will use the key manually. As soon as I unlocked and opened the door using the key, my alarm went off. I quickly hopped out, locked the door and shut it. The alarm shut off 2-3 minutes later. I ran and grabbed a replacement battery for my remote thinking that was the issue but the remote still did not work and when I tried to get in again manually, the alarm went off again. I tried starting the truck this time and it did briefly before shutting off on it's own. There were no symptoms prior to this that there were any issues developing. What can be causing this issue?
