Car Alarms: 1997 Sebring JXI convertible with factory alarm that wont reset-cant drive the car, site search engine, turning the key

Question
we have a possessed 97 sebring convertible.  The power locks don't work properly for unlocking the car when you are ready to attempt going somewhere.  You have to turn the driver's side then walk to the passenger side, turn the key, go back to the driver's side turn the key and then back to the passenger side to actually have the lock unlock and you can reach thru the car and manually unlock the driver's side.  Well now, the factory alarm has gone off and we have tried everything from taking out fuses, disconnecting battery, turning the key left then right in the driver's door, turning the key in the trunk and nothing seems to work.  The dealership isn't much help as they are telling us that they can not reset the factory alarm(???).  Any help or advice?  I was thinking we would have to replace the power locks and maybe that would clear the mess up.
Thank you
