Car Alarms: 1998 Kia Alarm sounds when door opened with key, alarmtek, car horn

Question
How do I stop my car alarm from sounding each time I open any locked door
with a key.
The alarm seems to set whether using the key, or the interior door lock prior
to shutting the door. A short beep of the car horn lets me know it is engaged.

It may be my imagination that this seems to me to happen more when the car
has been sitting and the battery is not as fully charged as it could be.
