Car Alarms: Sidewinder alarm problem, valet mode, gmc truck

Question
I have a Sidewinder model ESP5000 in my GMC truck.  I think somehow it is locked in valet mode even though I do not have a valet switch hooked up to the alarm to put it in this mode.  You can activate the panic mode with the remote and the alarm goes off telling me the siren and alarm is working.  the remote locks the doors and activated the light but, I get no arming chips and the LED in the cab is on solid not flashing.  No matter what I do with the remote I cannot get it to go back to the armed state with confirmation chirps and armed flashing LED.  I have also powered the battery down to try and reset the alarm system with no results.  Please help me with this as I have a very expensive sound system in the truck and no alarm system to protect it.
Thanks for your help,
Jeff
