Car Alarms: remote failure, saturn sw2, sw2 wagon

I was just reading the answer to a previous question about a remote not working properly and the answer posed a follow up question about whether the car had been jumpstarted recently.  I have a remote for a 97 Saturn SW2 wagon which stopped working after AAA came out to jumpstart my totally dead battery.  Will changing the battery in the remote do anything or does the remote need to be reprogrammed?  Thank you!

Not certain, but worth a try to contact Saturn in the morning and
have them evaluate your situation, then reset/ re program the transmitter
to assure best results here.

Car the parts department first and "shmooze" the guy at the counter.
Might get faster results that way :>)
