Car Alarms: 2001 dodge durango alarm, dodge durango, alarmtek

Question
QUESTION: I have a 2001 dodge durango and i tried to get into it this morning with the keyless pad and it didn't work so i unlocked the door and the alarm went of and i could'nt get to go off finally it went off itself but I can't get the car to start until i am able to bypass the alarm. How can I do that?

ANSWER: Please be more descriptive if possible.

"GOING OFF?"

I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
(doubtfull since none of the notes show this
car as having a factory alarm system)=FACTORY

Or,

is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
going off?= AFTER MARKET

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action
to take.

QUESTION: Yes it is the alarm that came with the car and the security light does flash but when the alarm is going off it honks and the head lights flash. I have not put my own alarm in its whatever came with the car.

Answer
Well, it should be key in the drivers door,
turn to the left, then to the right to disarm
and unlock. If no joy, have to towed to a car alarm
shop and have them ground out the factory disarm wire.

Hopefully, the first option will reset it.
