Car Alarms: Shifter locked by 1997 subaru alarm, side kick panel, oem alarms

Question
We were searching for the fuse to our running lights (b/c they would not shut off) and my pliers touched an aux. power supply wire that I guess goes to the alarm system. It went off, and I ripped out the siren (b/c the electronic key was hours away). when the electronic key returned I disabled the alarm. Now the car starts but it won't shift out of drive.

Can I remove the alarm system entirely?
Will it let us drive the car w/ the siren removed?
I read alarmtek saying there are no OEM alarms on these outbacks, right?

there are two auxilary power wires tapped into two different fuses, so I assume these are both for the alarm. The wires lead to a motorola box under the passenger's feet. There is, however, a "Subaru Keyless entry Control" box at the driver's side kick panel. What's what?

thanks,
Joel

Answer
Can I remove the alarm system entirely?<<<<NO NOT THE OEM ALARM. IT IS INTEGRATED INTO THE CAR AND CAN NOT SIMPLY BE REMOVED.
Will it let us drive the car w/ the siren removed?<<<<SAME ANSWER
I read alarmtek saying there are no OEM alarms on these outbacks, right?<<<<NOT TRUE. THIS ONE DOES HAVE AN OEM ALARM.
You can get that solution at my wirewerx.com

As far as the rest. The Motorola device is aftermarket.
No idea what that is, but it would not
affect the mechanics of the ignition. Niether
would any alarm I know of.

The keyless entry control is just that.
The box that lets you use the remote.

I'd have a mechanic look at it if I were you.
Does not seem to be an "alarm" issue though.

Hard to say from my vantage point however.
Have someone inspect this ASAP.

HOWEVER.
The term siren tells me it's after market.
Look at the past postings for Valet Mode
in this case. But that still would not affect
the mechanics of the ignition.

Let me know how it goes.
