Car Alarms: Remove Viper Alarm from 01 Alero, original remotes, keyless entry systems

Question
I believe the alarm is a Viper 300 which I got about 8 years ago.  It is causing some problems and my wife just assume it be removed.  I don't really care if all of the components are removed or not, I just don't want it on ever again.  I didn't want to simply put it in valet mode b/c it will reset when the battery goes down or is replaced.  Also, it's is "auto-locking" mode, so that would not be good if it ever reset.  It would be nice to be able to use the original remotes that came with the car, but not necessary.  Can I do something as simple as pull a fuse or disconnect from the battery?
