Car Alarms: Alarm, toyota camry, led light

Question
My wife has a 1997 Toyota Camry with a mfg alarm.  I had problems with the alarm/transmitter so I disabled it about a year ago.  Last week I had to replace the battery in the car and the alarm reset itself.  The horn would continuously beep.  So I manually disabled it via the valet switch since the alarm will not respond to transmitter.  Two questions:
(1) The valet switch is in the "In position" but the red LED light stays on.  Is this normal?
(2) Will this light drain the battery?

Thank You

Answer
On solid is valet/ override and should be fine
since is pulls about .03 mili amps.

Over a long period of time without starting the car however,
and you are pressing your luck, so keep turning the engine
on occasionally to avoid a drain.

Good luck.
