Car Alarms: Code-Alarm: Where is the programming button?, toggle key, panel strip

Question
QUESTION: Dear Expert,
Perhaps a silly question, but I cannot locate the programming button for the aftermarket Code-Alarm in my SAAB 900NG. I recently purchased a replacement remote and as per the instructions want to program it into the system. I have looked everywhere but cannot find the valet switch or programming button: - Under the dash, in the driver kick panel, under the door panel strip, I felt under the chair with my hand and pressed the LED light. I simply can't find anything looking like a black button the size of an eraser on the back of a pencil. Could you provide any clues?

Many thanks.

ANSWER: The blinking LED light may also double as the valet switch.
Try it!

QUESTION: Dear A.
Unfortunately, I tried, but the LED light is nothing more then the light. I did however, find a small toggle stick (presumably the valet switch)underneath the ashtray which when switched upwards lets the LED light flash once (this is while the key is in the ignition and turned on).
I haved the original instruction booklet of Code-Alarm from 1994. This manual mentiones the LED light, the valet switch AND an overriding/programming button - as I found 2 out of 3 there must a separate button.
I did try to activate the LEARN mode by pressing the switch in (in both modes - up and down) but I held it for a good 30 sec. without any joy.
Can you provide me any tips where to look for the button? - Would I need to unscrew a panel or so?

Many thanks again.
Mark

Answer
Seems that you already found the toggle,
(key on, flip the toggle, key off to reset.)
but if not working, you may need to pull the alarm
and repair the OEM wiring to start fresh.

You might also want to contact the people you purchased\
the remote from for some clarity on your specific
alarm.
