QuestionEvery now & then the "security" light will come on when I'm driving! When I realize it I pull over and turn my car off... wait a few minutes and restart it! The light goes out! In the last year the passlock has locked me out of my car 5 times! Not to mention 3 of the times was in the last 6 months! Is there a recall on this stupid thing yet? I can't afford to tow it 30 miles to have it reset... Does the "wait 10 minute" thing really work or no? I'm so frustrated... ERRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!
AnswerWell unfortunately, my advice is not going to help
with the frustration level. :>(
The PASSLOCK II system is enguaged. The key in the
ignition, turned on, and waiting 10 seconds trick will
work sometimes. But after awhile of that, it simply will
ignore the attempts. You will need to scrape up some
money I am afraid.
My "fix" here is 70. for the bypass module,
but then there is shipping, and the labor cost to install it.

it up, and have GM reset it, but it's more than likely
that the service department at GM will ONLY reset it.
That leaves you open for it to happen again & again.
Like I said, not alot of sunshine to offer here when
it comes to "free" for ANY GM vehicle actually, including
yours.
